Introduction
Description: Amoxicillin is a ß-lactam antibiotic with broad spectrum activities similar to that of ampicillin. It is effective against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis. Similar to other ß-lactam antibiotics, amoxicillin activity is inhibited by ß-lactamase producing microbes. Enhancement of activity has been reported when use in combination with a ß-lactam inhibitor such as clavulanic acid.
